NVU – a complete Web Authoring System for Linux Desktop, Microsoft Windows and Macintosh users to rival programs like FrontPage and Dreamweaver. Nvu (pronounced N-view, for a “new view”) makes managing a web site a snap. Now anyone can create web pages and manage a website with no technical expertise or knowledge of HTML.
Nvu features:
– editing multiple documents in one window
– the so-called smart widgets – ready-to-use fragments of HTML and JavaScript code to be embedded in pages (e.g. calendar)
– publication manager (built-in FTP client)
– templates
– convenient manipulation of tables and pictures
– syntax coloring
Work on the Nvu editor was commissioned by the French company Disruptive Innovations SARL, founded by former Netscape employee Daniel Glazman, one of the authors of the Mozilla/Netscape website Composer.
