BirEdit – a free and open-source text editor for Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista/2008/Seven, suitable for both novice users and advanced programmers. BirEdit can edit files in ANSI/ASCII/UTF-16/UTF-8/UTF-7 encodings. In addition to standard text editing functions, BirEdit has many non-standard features not found in the standard Notepad.
BirEdit features an easy-to-use graphical interface, supports syntax highlighting for popular programming languages, plugins, and Unicode, can edit and save files in the most popular encodings, and much more. The text editor is based on the SynEdit component, written in Delphi, and distributed under the GNU General Public License.
