Discuz! – a software for building an internet forum, written in PHP and developed by Comsenz Technology Co., Ltd. The application supports MySQL and PostgreSQL databases. This is the most popular internet forum application used in China.

Discuz! is free for personal use, a commercial license allows for paid usege which cost is around 3000 RMB. The software is officially available in Chinese. It was also officially developed in English, but development was interrupted for financial reasons. Unofficial English and other language versions are available on some web sites.

Discuz! was created and based on another internet application called “Asia XMB” (XMB forum) by Dai Zhikang as “Crossday Bulletin (CDB)” in March 2002. In October 15 it was renamed to “Discuz!”, and in February 2003 Comsenz Technology Co. Ltd. was founded.

A free and commercial version has been available since June 2003. Version 6.1.0 of the software depends on existing UCenter installation, which is an interface that connects all Comsenz products to a website. This is user management software, so information such as private messages can be used on all Comsenz products on the same page. Another innovation is integration of Chinese marketing service provider Insenz.

Comsenz was acquired by Tencent in August 2010.
Discuz! X 1.0 was developed in 2010, combining it with: other SNSs, web portals, groups and open platforms produced by the company.
