wpkontakt (formerly WPKontakt) – a multimedia communicator for Windows enabling voice and video calls, sending text messages, e-mails, files, as well as conference calls and chats, and sending voice messages, as well as, recently, connecting to landline and mobile phones.
The program is a client of the global Jabber network, and an optional Jabber account in the jabber.wp.pl domain was provided with it.
He can also communicate with other instant messengers: Gadu-Gadu and ICQ.
Since version 2.5.0, it is possible to use over 1,000 colorful and animated emoticons during a conversation. The transmission can be encrypted using the SSL protocol. Already in the 2001 versions, the program offered an innovative solution – speech synthesis of message text using plug-ins of the WP Speech Synthesis System.
From version 3.1.2 wpkontakt will no longer is developed, it has been replaced by the Spik messenger.
The last version of wpkontakt 3.1.2 was released in 2006.
