OpenACS – an open-source toolkit for building scalable, community-oriented web applications. OpenACS is the foundation for many products and websites, including the .LRN e-learning platform.

OpenACS is an open web framework focused on creating community sites (and, in particular, e-learning). It comes with ready-made solutions, such as a forum, a news site, e-learning, an online store, etc. It is written in Tcl using the object-oriented XOTcl extension. It runs on AOLServer (or its fork, NaviServer), and uses PostgreSQL or Oracle as a database.

ACS was built in the mid-1990s to support the photo.net online community as well as a variety of Internet services from Hearst Corporation.
