Windows Mail (predecessor of: Outlook Express, Windows Live Mail) – a free and intuitive e-mail client from Microsoft.

The application lets you receive and send electronic messages in a very simple and fast way. Windows Mail has been equipped with an anti-spam and anti-phishing filter, which keep junk messages out and ensure protection against phishing attempts. Free e-mail program for handling e-mail accounts supports electronic mailboxes running on the POP3 and IMAP protocols.

Windows Live Mail uses a new style of Microsoft’s interfaces, called the ribbon, which was introduced with the launch of Microsoft Office 2007. If you are used to the minimalist look of Outlook Express, switching to Windows Live Mail may take some time and getting used to the new interface.

You can also subscribe to newsgroup lists, the application also has a built-in calendar and RSS feed reader (called as sources).
