PhpWiki – a WikiWikiWeb clone in PHP. A WikiWikiWeb is a site where anyone can edit the pages through an HTML form. Multiple storage backends, dynamic hyperlinking, themeable, scriptable by plugins, full authentication, ACL’s.

Development on PhpWiki began in December 1999 and was led by Steve Wainstead. The first version was based on PHP 3.x and only ran on a DBM database. PhpWiki was the first full reimplementation of Ward Cunningham’s WikiWikiWeb.

In 2000, Arno Hollosi released a new version of PhpWiki that now also worked with MySQL databases. All essential formatting functions have also been implemented in this version.

Jeff Dairiki managed the project for the next several years after Arno Hollosi retired from development.

Reini Urban, Carsten Klapp and Joel Uckerman were the main developers.
