XWiki – an open-source Wiki application written in the Java programming language. XWiki was originally written by Ludovic Dubost. The first version of XWiki was published in January 2003, under the GNU General Public License.

XWiki Enterprise – the business version of XWiki includes: a WYSIWYG editor, document import and export functionality based on OpenDocument, semantic annotation and tagging options, and an extensive permissions management system.

XWiki allows users to save information and run server-side scripts through the wiki interface.
Scripts from programming languages such as Velocity, Groovy, Python, Ruby and PHP can be written directly to wiki pages using macros.

XWiki offers a generic platform for developing projects and collaborative applications using the wiki paradigm.
